After I lost my Murphy, I really didn't expect to get another dog for a long time. I loved him so much and he had been a part of my life for 14 years. However, when our neighbor upstairs moved in, they had the sweetest little ball of fluff I had ever seen. Upon finding out that she was a Pekingese, I scoured the papers, after going through every shelter in town. I finally found someone advertising a litter for sale.

My hubby said to get one with "good colors and markings." I just wanted one and didn't really care what she looked like. When I got to the breeder's home, there were four of the cutest little fluff balls I had ever seen. She had two males and two females. We had decided to get a female so my choice was narrowed down. The first little one that approached me was white and light tan. Her markings were not striking, but she was the most active little thing in the bunch. The other female had beautiful markings, but seemed a bit withdrawn. I held both babies and really thought about which one to take. Since the breeder seemed attached to the plain, active one, I decided to take the other one.

On the way home from the breeder, Annabelle wanted to be as close as possible to me. She crawled on my lap and tried to climb up me. I put her up by my shoulder and that is where she rode the rest of the way home. After a couple of days, I discovered her name was Annabelle. I always figure that the pet will eventually reveal his or her name, and Annabelle suits her. She is quite the lady.

Annie has come out of her shell and is the most delightful little thing I've ever seen. She is just adorable and loves her "daddy" and I. We love to cuddle, but most of all we love to play together. She is much more exuberant with daddy, but she and mommy have a good time playing as well. She does believe that any naked toes or fingers at her mouth level are meant to be chewed upon. EVERYTHING goes into her mouth. Everything is a chew toy, no matter that she has numerous toys all over the house.

Annabelle has the coveted "Buddha Thumbprint"

She was barely a foot long when she first came home. Here she has grown a bit.

Checking out the neighborhood.

"Remember...my ancestors were considered royalty."

"I just love to play with my mommy!"

Annabelle is 19 weeks old here.
